Elder Update

Before we all turn our attention to the race track or the pool on this Memorial Day Weekend, we wanted to update you on a few developments that have taken place this past month.

Promise Land

Recently, someone has asked to buy out Bridgeway’s portion of the partnership that owns the land where we intended to build our own church. After much prayer, we believe that God is leading us to sell our portion of the property and to use the funds to build His kingdom at our current location. Many factors led to this decision, including withdrawal of an entity that originally was to partner with Bridgeway to construct a multi-use facility on the property, various unforeseen circumstances like our current lead pastor transition and a change of ministry philosophy of expanding out rather than expanding up; plus the physical layout of the property is not conducive to building a structure as originally planned.

According to our by-laws, we are required to allow our church community three weeks to give feedback in regards to this decision. We will be holding a feedback meeting on Sunday, June 5 at 6pm, and encourage anyone who has questions or concerns to attend.

Lead Pastor Search

Last month Brian Aaby, a church search consultant, met with our elder team, staff and a mix of Bridgeway attenders. We have received his report and have decided to begin the process of interviewing some possible candidates from our internal networks. We felt it wise to explore this possibility before conducting a complex nation-wide search. We will keep you updated on the progress and where God might be leading us in the coming months. Please continue to pray for us during this process.

As we look back to the the beginning of this year, God continues to show his favor on our church and we are excited for what we has in store for us this summer and fall. We feel we are focused and unified on our mission, to change lives through the gospel of Jesus Christ, and we anticipate great things for the future. We do not take lightly the trust you have put into us as leadership during this time and consider ourselves blessed to be a part of your lives.
